ESPN Player Evaluations

Nike Nationals-July 10: Played some of her smoothest and most confident basketball of the summer. Active with and without the ball and intelligent in her movement. Shot the ball confidently both spotting up and particularly well off the pull up. A very effective point guard who, despite her smaller size, would be an effective scorer at the off guard spot. Defended well and demonstrated good instincts in taking away opponents options. Keeps showing more and more. (Lewis)

Nike Summer Showcase-July. 10: If you define a point guard by versatility then this is your girl. Orrange gets the job done by doing what's called for at the moment and doing it well. She has the touch and range to be a perimeter threat but the individual skills to attack and create. Finishing with contact in traffic isn't a problem but neither is making the tough pass. There is a smooth, fluid appearance to her game that at times gives the impression of coasting. Results say otherwise. (Lewis)

Nike Skills-May '10: Extremely talented point guard with a high basketball I.Q. to match her ball handling and passing. She create her own shot and understands how to attack defenders to create space. (Bodine)

Boo Williams-April '10: Creates with impressive one-on-one skills. Has both a good spot up on the perimeter as well as a lethal pull up. She can go both ways effectively and makes the smart pass on defensive rotations. Her decision making is more mature and her shot selection has improved. Defensively she could turn it up a notch or two.

Flava Jam-July '09: Westbury Christian guard Amber Orrange is a special talent. She plays for a Houston Heat team that has plenty of skilled players but is at its best when she is creating. She's just 5-7 but she utilizes her long wing span to past defenders and she's so shifty that defenders are often left leaning in one direction while she's scooting by into the lane going the other direction. She contorts her body in the air and has a knack for knocking down those leaning, off-balance shots, which offsets much of the size difference in the paint. What makes her even more effective is that she can penetrate and pitch with the best of them and doesn't put up a shot every time she penetrates. She can make these plays going either direction and showed some range on her jumper as well. (Hansen)
