Friday's Cup selections

Here are some notes and picks for Friday's four Breeders' Cup races.

Some nice horses have won at Keeneland. They are Airoforce in the Juvenile Turf, Harmonize in the Juvenile Fillies Turf and Got Lucky in the Distaff. Playing previous winners at the track is an old school handicapping staple.

A couple of morning lines are worth second and third looks. Liam's Map is listed at even money in the Dirt Mile. That could turn out to be a decent price. This race features tons of speed.

Hit It a Bomb, whatever that means, is a trendy pick at 9-2 from the 14 gate spot in the Juvenile Turf. It was a rocket in Ireland, winning once on fake dirt, and has never been a mile. The 14 gate is out there.

The opening Breeders' Cup race, the Juvenile Turf, is the first of some great world-class grass action that is reminiscent of the Ryder Cup competition, the U.S. versus the World, with horses entered from Ireland, England and Canada. Nemoralia beat 18 in England, Hit It a Bomb beat 21 horses in Ireland, and Cymric beat three in England.
