ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. -- High Chaparral accelerated suddenly settling into the stretch, exploding to a 1 1-4 length victory over With Acceleration and six others in Saturday's $2,216,720 Breeders' Cup Turf.

High Chaparral, with Michael Kinane up, wins at Arlington Park.
Confidently ridden by Michael Kinane, High Chaparral raced in mid-pack while The Tin Man set an uncontested, slow pace over the yielding turf course. High Chapparal was between horses in a pack of four others still chasing The Tin Man as the field turned for home but easily left them all behind once Kinane asked the 3-year-old colt for his run nearing the eighth pole.

With Anticipation rallied in company with High Chaparral entering the stretch and while no match for the winner continued on willingly to finish second. He was followed by Falcon Flight, The Tin Man, Denon, Golan, Ballingarry and Perfect Soul.

High Chaparral paid $3.80 and was the shortest priced winner on Saturday's eight race Breeders' Cup card. He ran 1 1-2 miles in 2:30.

High Chaparral, a son of Sadler's Well whose only defeat this season was a third place finish in the Arc de Triomophe, is trained by Aidan O'Brien for owners Michael Tabor & Mrs. John Magnier.

"He's a horse with a lot of class," said O'Brien. "It was a slow race but when Mick asked him to quicken there wasn't any doubt."

"Once the gap opened and he quickened the race was over," said Kinane.
