Snowball Derby week has arrived on the Florida Gulf Coast, and the entry list appears nearly set.
The most prestigious asphalt Super Late Model event in the country is notorious for inviting some of the best in NASCAR to compete alongside weekly racers from across the country. This year is no different, especially considering this is the 50th running of the Super Bowl of Short-Track Racing.
The entry list is headlined by 2015 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch but also contains 2016 Camping World Truck Series champion Johnny Sauter. Cup Series regular Corey LaJoie and reigning K&N East champion Harrison Burton have filed entries.
Former winners and second-generation NASCAR drivers John Hunter Nemechek and Steve Wallace are also on the list but have expressed second thoughts about making the trip.
Even beyond the NASCAR notables, the entry list is rich in short-track superstardom, including regional champions like Bubba Pollard, Ty Majeski, Stephen Nasse and reigning event winner Christian Eckes.
In all, 67 drivers have filed an entry blank for just 36 starting spots in one of the most difficult races to even make.
The front row will take the green flag at 3:00pm/et. ET. The Snowball Derby will have a live television-style pay-per-view broadcast via Speed51.com.
