Henderson Motorsports to honor crew chief's mother in law

Food Country USA/Henderson Motorsports Toyota will have a tribute to Crew Chief Chris Carrier's mother in law , Peggy Miller on the Talladega Truck Saturday for the Fred's 250 Powered by Coca-Cola.

When Peggy Miller was diagnosed with breast cancer 23 years ago there was no support group in Bristol for breast cancer patients. Peggy was told it would be impossible to start a support group and keep it going. Peggy did indeed start a support group and facilitated the meetings with her friend, Ann Corrin, for 15 years. The group started with just a few ladies, but averaged 40 in attendance, sometimes having over 100 at meetings. The group is now led by Paulette Donahue and meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the fellowship hall at Fellowship Chapel Church. People with any type of cancer are welcome to attend.

Henderson Motorsports driver Parker Kligerman hopes this helps to raise breast cancer awareness amongst women. "There are many unsung heroes in this world that make it a markedly better place, but the biggest shame is that they stay unsung. So, it's an honor for the Food Country Race Team to have a tribute on our Talladega truck to Peggy Miller, Chris's mother-in-law, and the Bristol Breast Cancer Support Group, who have helped so many deal with breast cancer. I hope we can honor this remarkable woman and these heroes in the best way we know; which is to get them in victory lane and bring light to breast cancer awareness. Early detection is the key to survival."

Peggy spent her life trying to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. She was a 40 year melanoma survivor, and a 23 year breast cancer survivor. On June 27, 2017, Peggy lost her 6 month battle against an extremely rare heart disease, which was caused by cancer cells in her bone marrow.

Along with Food Country USA, Tide Pods and Lopez Wealth Management, "Parker's Parking Lot" will also be on the truck for Talladega. Parker's Parking Lot is Parker Kligerman's YouTube channel.
