| ESPN Radio signs 100th full-time station | |||

ESPN Radio has reached a milestone by signing its 100th full-time station - those which present more than 18 hours of original ESPN Radio programming daily. WTMT-AM in Louisville, Ky., whose format included local sports/talk, will begin broadcasting as a full-time station in mid-April.
"We offer unmatched quality programming and the best talent in the industry - the keys to ESPN Radio's success," T.J. Lambert, vice president, sports for ABC Radio Networks, said in making the announcement."Also, stations want to brand themselves with a proven leader in sports broadcasting and they have embraced ESPN Radio." ESPN Radio, which debuted January 1,1992, has grown from Saturday and Sunday night programming and weekday, drive-time commentaries, to 8,000 hours of annual content on more than 620 affiliates, reaching an estimated 16.5 million people weekly. Its first full-time station, WMVP-AM in Chicago, became ESPN Radio 1000 in October 1998. "These 100 full-time stations represent ESPN Radio's very own 'Sports Century,' and we're gratified they recognize the value of our combination of sports news, expert analysis, opinion and entertainment," said Eric Schoenfeld, ESPN Radio general manager. "Terrific hosts from Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic in the morning, to Tony Kornheiser and Dan Patrick in the afternoon position us well for our next 'Century' of affiliates." Weekday programming includes The Greenberg/Golic Morning Show, The Tony Kornheiser Show, The Dan Patrick Show, GameDay and GameNight on ESPN Radio, and ESPN Radio All Night. Weekends include ESPN Radio Outdoors with the Reel Guys, ESPN Radio's RPM NOW, The Sporting Life with Dick Schaap, The NFL on ESPN Radio (in-season), College Football GameDay (in-season), and ESPN The Magazine on ESPN Radio. ESPN Radio also has exclusive national broadcast rights to Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, and all four Bowl Championship Series games. ESPN Radio is a joint venture between ABC Radio, which is responsible for sales, affiliations, marketing and promotions and ESPN, Inc. ESPN Radio broadcasts, under the direction of Steve Anderson, executive vice president, production and technical operations, originate from studios in ESPN's Bristol, Conn. headquarters.
