Ty Isaac to transfer from USC

USC Trojans tailback Ty Isaac has been released from his scholarship and an athletic department official confirmed Wednesday that he will transfer.

Isaac had just finished his freshman year at USC where he gained 236 yards on 40 carries with two touchdowns during the 2013 season. He had been limited during recent spring drills due to injury and was listed as the primary backup behind co-starters Buck Allen and Tre Madden on the end-of-spring depth chart released by USC coach Steve Sarkisian. Sophomore tailback Justin Davis will also join that rotation in the fall as he returns from injury.

Isaac is expected to transfer to a school closer to his Midwest home. He starred at Joliet (Ill.) Catholic Academy where he set a school record with 5,305 career rushing yards and he chose USC over such traditional area powers as Michigan and Notre Dame.

At 6-foot-3, 225 pounds there was a thought that Isaac might one day grow out of the tailback spot but he showed a natural running style in his time at USC and was considered to have a bright future at the position.
