LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers rookie shortstop Dee Gordon, who has been on the 15-day disabled list since Aug. 12 with a bruised right shoulder, will begin a two-day rehabilitation assignment with advanced Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday against San Jose after holding up well to the regimen the team's medical staff put him through Friday and Saturday.
That puts Gordon on track to return to the active roster as early as Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres, although Gordon hinted he might be pushed back one more day following the rehab assignment.
"Tuesday or Wednesday," he said.
Gordon is expected to both hit and play defensively for the Quakes.
