GENEVA -- Serbia guard Milos Teodosic edged Spain's Pau Gasol to win Europe's 2010 best basketball player award.
Teodosic helped Serbia reach the world championship semifinals, averaging 11.3 points. He sank a late 3-pointer to beat Spain in the quarterfinals.
Los Angeles Lakers forward Gasol, who skipped the worlds in Turkey, won the European basketball governing body's award the past two years.
Gasol got the most votes from an expert panel, but Teodosic won by a large margin in fan voting.
Previous winners include Dirk Nowitzki in 2005 and Andrei Kirilenko in 2007.
The 23-year-old Teodosic helped his Greek club Olympiacos reach the Euroleague final. He also made headlines for brawling in an exhibition game against Greece before the world championship tournament.
