Clippers add Reggie Evans for depth

The Los Angeles Clippers added some size and depth to their roster Wednesday, signing forward Reggie Evans.

The 6-foot-8 Evans signed a one-year deal at the veteran's minium of $1.23 million, according to Yahoo! Sports.

"L.A Clippers #LETSGETIT," said a post on Evans' Twitter account.

Evans spent last season with the Toronto Raptors, averaging 11.5 rebounds and 4.4 points in 30 games. He missed the rest of the season with a broken foot.

He took off from Florida for Los Angeles Wednesday night and is expected to suit up for the Clippers in Sunday's season opener against the Golden State Warriors. Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said the 31-year-old filled a need for his team in the post.

Before acquiring Evans, the Clippers had no low-post forwards other than starters Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

"He's a rebounder and a tough kid," Del Negro said of Evans. "He can guard some 4's and some 5's and give us that extra edge to really get us some rebounds and get us out in the open court."

Veteran forward Brian Cook, a 3-point shooting specialist, competed against Evans in college when the new acquisition went to Iowa and Cook went to Illinois.

"He's a great competitor," Cook said. "He's gonna do the dirty work for us. That's exactly what we needed."
