Former Wake Forest forward Ari Stewart's transfer to USC is now official, the Trojans confirmed Friday.
Stewart, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound outside-shooting type, will have to sit out next season but will be eligible to compete beginning in 2012-13. He averaged 8.5 points and 4.4 rebounds last season for Wake Forest as the team's fifth-leading scorer. The previous year, he led all ACC freshmen in 3-point shooting and averaged 7.3 points per game.
He becomes the fourth transfer signed by USC coach Kevin O'Neill in less than two years on the job. Guard Jio Fontan transferred from Fordham in December 2009, and forward Aaron Fuller (Iowa) and junior-college center DeWayne Dedmon (Antelope Valley College) both signed in April 2010.
All-Pac-10 forward Nikola Vucevic left the Trojans a year early last month to apply for the NBA draft.
Pedro Moura covers USC for ESPNLosAngeles.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
