Lacy Westbrook has brain surgery

UCLA incoming freshman offensive lineman Lacy Westbrook underwent surgery to repair a brain aneurysm and was in stable condition Thursday evening, according to a spokesperson at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, Calif.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Westbrook was admitted to the hospital after he collapsed while jogging earlier this week. He is expected to make a full recovery, the hospital spokesperson said.

A three-star recruit out of Dominguez High School, Westbrook is one of UCLA's top-ranked offensive line recruits this season. He is considered raw, but scouts liked his size, athleticism and upside.

Westbrook sat out the first half of his senior year after undergoing two surgeries on his foot and is expected to greyshirt at UCLA this season, meaning he will not enroll at school until after the upcoming season so he can develop without using eligibility.
