UCLA's Tyler Rahmatulla will be unavailable to play in the College World Series with a broken wrist.
The injury had nothing to do with playing. It occcured in a freak accident after the Bruins' series-clinching win on Sunday in the Super Regional over Cal State Fullerton, according to a university spokesperson. The Bruins' second baseman was caught in the postgame dogpile.
Rahmatulla, a sophomore, forced a Game 3 against the Titans in the Super Regional by blasting a clutch two-out, two-run home run in the ninth inning of Saturday's elimination game. Rahmatulla hit .328 with seven home runs and 45 RBIs this season.
Rahmatulla was not available for comment Tuesday. He will accompany the team to Omaha.
