Instant Classic

As part of what could be the coolest assignment ever, The Magazine's Chris Palmer is down in Georgia this week trying out for the NBDL, the NBA's new developmental league. Here's CPalm's report from the first day of tryouts. Meanwhile, all we can say is if CPalm scores six points, there definitely ain't no D in the D-League.

I think I have officially become the darling of the D-League. We played our first game today and I registered six points, four assists, one board and no TOs. In front of about 40 scouts and a gallery of about 10 players who I've been palling around with (Terrence Roberson, Rashad Phillips, Tony Harris among others) who were cheering like crazy shouting "ESPN", "high school to the pros" or "SportsCenter" every time I touched the rock.

I was matched up the whole time with Greedy Daniels, who is probably the quickest guard here. I have to report that on one occasion he caught me so bad with his killer crossover it nearly sent me into the first row. After the game Greedy says "Man, we gotta call you ESPN Classic -- because that was a classic, baby."
