K-State suspends Gilbert for violation of team rules

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State coach Frank Martin announced
Wednesday that junior forward Andre Gilbert has been suspended
indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

The suspension came as the Wildcats (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) were preparing to take on
No. 2 Kansas, a team they haven't beaten in Manhattan since 1983.

"We have expectations for our student-athletes and Andre has
not lived up to those expectations," Martin said in a statement.
"Like every member of our team, he has to understand that there
are consequences when you fail to follow the rules."

Gilbert, who had been a projected starter for Wednesday's game,
averaged 5.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 17 games this season.
