Former Hartford assistant John Gallagher has been named the new men's basketball coach at the school, a source told ESPN.com.
Gallagher, who most recently served as an assistant at the University of Pennsylvania, replaces Dan Leibovitz, who -- oddly enough -- resigned last week to become an assistant at Penn.
Gallagher was Leibovitz's assistant for two seasons at Hartford before leaving to help Glen Miller at Penn in 2008.
Gallagher had resigned from Penn following the Final Four to join ex-Cornell coach Steve Donahue at Boston College. Instead, after 11 years in the assistant's chair, he gets his first chance to be the boss.
