West Virginia freshman Darrious Curry will not play this season because of a medical issue, coach Bob Huggins said.
"Darrious had extensive medical evaluations by numerous physicians and they concluded it was in his best interest to no longer play basketball," Huggins said. "He has been medically disqualified based on a medical condition that we cannot disclose due to student privacy laws."
Curry originally committed to UTEP but received his release after Tony Barbee left for Auburn and the school hired Tim Floyd.
Curry, 6-foot-7 Houston native, averaged 19 points and seven rebounds as a senior. The forward was expected to be a key contributor for a Mountaineers' team trying to replace Da'Sean Butler, Wellington Smith and Devin Ebanks from its Final Four team.
