West Virginia 77, James Madison 48

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Pat Beilein scored 15 points and

undefeated West Virginia rolled to a 77-48 victory over James

Madison on Saturday.

Kevin Pittsnogle scored 13, and D'or Fischer and Joe Herber both

added 11 for the Mountaineers (7-0).

James Madison (2-5) couldn't duplicate the winning ways of the

school's football team, which a night earlier won its first

Division I-AA championship.

The Dukes played without their scorer Daniel Freeman, who missed

his third game after suffering a stress fracture on his right foot

Dec. 4 against Hofstra.

The Dukes' other two top scorers, Ray Barbosa and Cavell

Johnson, combined for only 16 points. This is the first time all

season that Barbosa has scored less than ten.

David Cooper, who scored ten, was James Madison's only scorer in

double figures.

James Madison failed to make a field goal over a 9:36 span in

the first half, shooting only 39 percent from the field during the

game.

West Virginia outscored the Dukes 23-6 during that span, putting

the game out of reach.
