Skinn's late 3 lifts George Mason past Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Tony Skinn made a 3-point shot with 10.8

seconds left as George Mason held off a late Wichita State comeback

and beat the Shockers 70-67 Saturday night.

The Patriots (21-5) led 64-55 after Jai Lewis hit a 3-pointer

with 3:53 to go. But Wichita State (21-7) got within three on Karon

Bradley's 3-point shot with 2:00 left and tied the score at 67 when

Sean Ogirri made a 3 with 28.7 seconds remaining.

The Patriots passed the ball inside to Lewis on the next

possession, and he passed to Skinn for the winning basket.

The Shockers had a final chance, but P.J. Couisnard was forced

into a fadeaway 3-point attempt that missed the rim at the buzzer.

Skinn led George Mason with 23 points, Lewis added 16 and Will

Thomas had 12 points and eight rebounds.

The game was one of 13 BracketBuster games ESPN televised to

provide national exposure to mid-major teams that have a chance at

making the NCAA tournament.

Bradley scored 17 points to lead the Shockers, Wilson scored 15

and Miller had 14.

The win was the eighth consecutive and 14th out of 15 for George

Mason. Wichita State dropped its second home game of the year.

Wichita State fell to 1-2 in Bracket Buster games, while George

Mason improved to 2-0.
