West Virginia 87, Slippery Rock 37
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Freshman Da'Sean Butler came off the
bench to score 15 points and Joe Alexander added 14 to lead West
Virginia to an 87-37 win over Slippery Rock on Tuesday.
It was the Mountaineers' largest margin of victory since a
125-64 win over St. Bonaventure on Jan. 3, 1991.
Butler also had nine rebounds.
West Virginia hit 14 3-pointers, including 10 in the second
half. Alexander and freshman Devan Bawinkel, who finished with 13
points, were each 3-of-3 from behind the arc.
Glenn Reepmeyer led Slippery Rock with 12 points.
Slippery Rock had 25 turnovers and shot just 33.3 percent from
the field.
The game was considered part of the regular season for West
Virginia (2-0). But under a new NCAA rule, Slippery Rock was able
to use the game as its second of two allowed exhibition games. It
played the first against Division One Cleveland State.
