SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) -- Jimmy Baron's career-high 28 points, including eight 3-pointers, led Rhode Island past Brown 72-68 on Tuesday night.
Brown's Damon Huffman also had a career-high with 30 points and eight 3-pointers. The 3-point shooting by Baron and Huffman was one short of a record at their respective schools.
Baron's biggest 3-pointer came from the right corner with 4:16 to play and gave Rhode Island a 64-59 lead. The shot broke a 7-0 Brown run.
Brown (3-6) trailed 70-60 with 1:13 to play but Huffman scored five straight and Mark McAndrew nailed a 3-pointer to make it a 71-68 game.
Rhode Island's biggest lead of the first half was 27-16 after Joe Mbang and Baron hit consecutive 3-pointers with less than six minutes to play in the period. Brown closed the first half with a Huffman 3-pointer at the buzzer to pull within 35-39.
McAndrew finished with 12 points for Brown and Chris Skrelja added 10.
