BC holds off Iowa despite late scoring drought

BOSTON -- Iowa's Andrew Brommer missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 0.4 seconds left and Boston College held on to beat the Hawkeyes 57-55 on Tuesday night despite scoring just one point in the game's last 4:45.

BC (5-2) improved to 3-0 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge -- the only team other than Duke with a perfect record -- but the Eagles almost gave it away after taking a 56-45 lead.

After Iowa (6-2) cut the deficit to one point, Tyrese Rice, who scored 15 points in all, made one of two free throws with 12.5 seconds left. The Hawkeyes almost threw the ball away at the buzzer, but Corey Raji grabbed Brommer as he tried to turn around and throw up a desperation 3-pointer.

Brommer, who is 3-for-15 in his career from the line, clanged it off the front of the rim and time expired.
