VCU 84, Delaware 74
NEWARK, Del. -- Jamie Skeen scored a career-high 32 points and Joey Rodriguez added 15 as Colonial Athletic Association co-leader Virginia Commonwealth defeated Delaware 84-74 in double overtime Wednesday night for the 11th win in its past 12 games.
Brandon Rozzell's 3-point jumper for the Rams (20-6, 12-2) broke a 74-74 tie with 1:36 left in the second overtime and the Blue Hens (11-13, 6-8) never scored the rest of the way.
Skeen's layup gave VCU a 71-69 lead with 2:35 remaining in the first overtime, and there was no further scoring until a layup by D.J. Boney tied it with 1 second to go.
The Rams overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to go ahead 67-65 on Rodriguez's layup with 1:33 to go in regulation, but Devon Saddler, who led Delaware with 19 points, tied it at the 0:59 mark.
Skeen and Bradford Burgess, who had 14 points, both surpassed the 1,000-point mark for their VCU careers.
