HAMDEN, Conn. -- Jamal Olasewere scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Long Island University remained undefeated in Northeastern Conference play with a 79-75 victory Saturday over Quinnipiac.
Olasewere scored seven points in the first 5:06 of the second half, when the Blackbirds (10-6, 4-0) took a 50-45 lead after a 37-37 first half.
After LIU had increased its lead to 73-60 with 5:04 remaining, the Bobcats (8-7, 1-3) ran off the next nine points, including seven by Ike Azotam, who led Quinnipiac with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
A layup by Julian Boyd made it 75-69 with 1:41 left, and he added three free throws down the stretch to help keep the Blackbirds in front.
Boyd added 17 points and nine rebounds for LIU and Jason Brickman had 12 points and 10 assists.
James Johnson had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Quinnipiac, which outrebounded LIU 61-38.
