CONWAY, S.C. -- Chris Gradnigo paced Coastal Carolina in the first half and Anthony Raffa took over in the second to help Coastal Carolina beat UNC Asheville 74-69 Tuesday night, snapping a three-game skid.
Gradnigo scored 11 of his 15 points and grabbed eight of his 13 rebounds, leading the Chanticleers (18-8, 11-5 Big South Conference) to a 35-20 advantage at the break.
The Chanticleers were outscored by 10 in the second half, 49-39, despite Raffa scoring 17 of his 20 points.
The Bulldogs (19-8, 14-2) trailed 67-58 before scoring six straight to make it a three-point game with 1:11 left. J.P. Primm's 3 pulled them within three, 72-69 with 4 seconds remaining. But Raffa made both his free throws 1 second later to seal it.
Matt Dickey scored 19 points for UNC Asheville, which missed going unbeaten (8-0) on the road in league play for the first time in school history.
