KATY, Texas -- Dakarai Henderson scored the winning layup with less than a second left and Sam Houston State beat Nicholls State 60-59 in the second round of the Southland Conference tournament Thursday night.
Henderson's basket capped an electric, three-basket sequence that proceeded with no stoppage of play. It started with Aurimas Majauskas's jumper that gave the Bearkats a 58-56 lead with 15 seconds left. T.J. Carpenter answered with deep 3-pointer that put the No. 7 seed Colonels ahead 59-58 with 5.9 seconds left. Henderson then went coast-to-coast, finishing high off the glass.
The third-seeded Bearkats (18-14) will face No. 2 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Friday night's semifinals.
