Providence transfer Brandon Austin is headed to Oregon.
Austin, who decided to leave the Friars midway through the season after being suspended for an off-court incident, has decided to head west instead of transferring to a school closer to his home in Philadelphia.
Austin is a 6-foot-6 wing who was a top 100 player coming out of high school. Providence coach Ed Cooley was extremely optimistic about Austin's future in the Big East, but the school suspended both he and fellow freshman Rodney Bullock indefinitely prior to the start of the season for "not upholding their responsibilities as student-athletes."
The school then suspended both players for the entire season in late-December due to a violation of the school's Code of Conduct.
Austin elected to transfer while Bullock has decided to remain at Providence.
Dana Altman has had success taking on transfers since arriving in Eugene -- from guys like Devoe Joseph (Minnesota) and Arsalan Kazemi (Rice) to current players Joseph Young (Houston), Mike Moser (UNLV) and Jason Calliste (Detroit).
