Wisconsin big man Frank Kaminsky had second thoughts in recent weeks and was seriously considering leaving for the NBA, but the Badgers junior ultimately decided to remain in Madison for his final season.
"It was a tough decision, but I think the best thing for me is to stay another year and develop even more," the 7-footer told ESPN.com on Friday afternoon. "I made a commitment to the school and I don't think I can turn my back on the people who have been there for me."
Kaminsky averaged just 4.2 points as a sophomore but was a key reason for the Badgers' success this past season, averaging 14.6 points and 5.8 rebounds. He said he was definitely returning to school moments after the team's last-second loss to Kentucky in the Final Four but later explored the possibility of declaring for the draft.
According to NBA executives, Kaminsky's range was anywhere from 25th to 45th in the upcoming draft.
"I don't think a couple good tournament games are enough for me for my career," Kaminsky said. "I still have a lot left to prove and I think we are going to have a great team next season."
Wisconsin will return four starters from a Final Four team, losing only senior guard Ben Brust. Sam Dekker could have declared for the draft and would have been a fringe first-rounder, but he will return for his junior campaign.
