Matt Carlino transferring to Marquette

Marquette is expected to add BYU graduate transfer Matt Carlino.

The 6-foot-2 Carlino, who averaged 13.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game last season for the Cougars, informed new Golden Eagles coach Steve Wojciechowski of the decision on Friday.

Carlino will be eligible to play next season for Marquette, which is lacking a scoring guard. Last season, the Golden Eagles started junior Derrick Wilson, who averaged 5.0 points and 4.2 assists while starting 31 games.

Marquette also had freshman Duane Wilson, who redshirted last season due to a leg injury.

Carlino also considered Purdue and St. Joseph's, among other schools.

Marquette finished 17-15 last season. Buzz Williams left for Virginia Tech shortly afterward and was replaced by Wojciechowski.
