No. 20 Ohio State announced Wednesday afternoon that sophomore Marc Loving did not make the trip to West Lafayette, Indiana, for Wednesday night's 60-58 loss at Purdue and is barred from competition indefinitely.
"Sophomore forward Marc Loving did not travel with the Ohio State men's basketball team to Purdue," the school's statement read. "He has temporarily lost his privilege to wear the Scarlet and Gray."
The program's announcement arrived just an hour before tipoff.
Loving (11.7 PPG) is the second-leading scorer for the Buckeyes, who are 17-5 overall and 6-3 in the Big Ten entering Wednesday's matchup against the Boilermakers.
It's unclear when Loving will return. But a source close to the program said that Loving must prove that he deserves to compete for Ohio State.
"Needs to earn the right [to wear the uniform] back," the source said.
