Javion Ogunyemi won't have to sit out after transfers

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Siena forward Javion Ogunyemi will not have to sit out this season, despite transferring from the school last spring and back to it this fall.

Typically, players who transfer have to sit out a year under NCAA rules. But Siena's compliance office was able to certify him as eligible, and he did not end up needing an NCAA waiver to get back on the court.

Ogunyemi played for the Saints last season then transferred to Boston University. He chose to return to Siena this fall, citing family reasons.

He averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds last season, starting 28 of the Saints' 31 games. He was second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in field goal percentage among players who logged at least 300 minutes, making 55 percent of his shots.
