Cards sending 'prayers and good wishes' to Kyle Kuric, Rick Pitino says

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville coach Rick Pitino has asked for prayers for Kyle Kuric, after the player's Spanish pro team announced the former Cardinals star has a brain tumor.

CB Gran Canaria announced Kuric's diagnosis and said Tuesday in a statement on its website that he has been admitted to a Barcelona hospital, with surgery expected in the coming days. The statement added that the family of Gran Canaria Basketball Club wants to show "unconditional support" for Kuric.

Kuric played for Louisville from 2008 to '12 and was the top scorer during the team's Final Four run his senior year. Pitino called Kuric "one of the finest young men" he had the privilege to coach and said in a statement, "Our prayers and good wishes go out for a healthy and speedy recovery for Kyle."
