Jalen Hudson to transfer from Virginia Tech to Florida

The Florida Gators picked up their second significant player this week as they landed Virginia Tech transfer Jalen Hudson on Wednesday.

Hudson, a 6-foot-5 guard who averaged 8.4 points and 2.3 rebounds as a sophomore for the Hokies, chose Mike White and the Gators over Texas.

I believe in what Coach White is building," Hudson told ESPN on Wednesday. "I think Florida gives me a great opportunity to perform at a high level, win at a high level and ultimately pursue my dreams in playing in the NBA."

Hudson appeared in 67 games in two seasons, including 27 starts, and at times showed potent scoring ability. He scored 23 points in a victory against NC State, 27 points in a loss to Louisville and 28 in the Hokies' NIT victory against Princeton.

Hudson will have two years of eligibility after sitting out the 2016-17 season.

Florida also landed Charleston graduate transfer Canyon Barry, who averaged 19.7 points last season, on Monday. Barry is eligible immediately.
