Rob Davis has not only joined Mike McCarthy's coaching staff in Dallas but his title is assistant head coach, sources said. A surprise considering he's never actually been on a coaching staff. He was director of player development with the Packers, which was under the football operations department.

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst admitted he tried to explore trade opportunities to add an offensive skill position player but "the opportunities weren't or of sound value" at the in-season deadline.

GM Brian Gutekunst said it's his understanding that TE Jimmy Graham wants to play next year. Graham is under contract with the Packers for 2020 for $8 million, the final year of his three-year deal. He admitted Graham's numbers weren't what Graham probably wanted them to be, but he liked having veterans like Graham and Marcedes Lewis around the team.

Run defense will no doubt be a focus this offseason, and that starts up the middle at inside linebacker. "Obviously, Blake Martinez's (contract) is up," GM Brian Gutekunst said. "We're going to have to take a long look at inside linebacker and make sure we're squared away there."

GM Brian Gutekunst disagreed with the idea that 12th overall pick Rashan Gary didn't contribute much as a rookie. "I thought he contributed quite a bit," Gutekunst said. "He didn't see a normal amount of snap time from a first-round draft pick but when he was in there, I thought he impacted the game. His explosiveness off the edge was evident. I'm excited to see what he can do."

GM Brian Gutekunst didn't hide the fact that NT Kenny Clark's contract extension will be a priority between now and the start of training camp. "I'm optimistic we will come to an agreement at some point," he said.

GM Brian Gutekunst categorized Aaron Rodgers' performance "a really, really good year, especially adapting to a new system." Gutekunst said Rodgers "carried us at times" but also didn't have to all the time because of the makeup of the team. He said Rodgers is playing at "an elite level (and is) really excited to see what he can do in Year 2 (with coach Matt LaFleur).

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst noted that different receivers stepped up at different times -- he specifically mentioned Allen Lazard -- but "we didn't have the consistency." He admitted: "That will be a position we look to add (to.)."

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst won't be able to go as wild in free agency this spring as he did last year, saying there will be "a little bit more restrictions if we're going to do everything we want with the guys who are here." However, he said they're in "pretty sound financially" and will have "plenty of opportunities to do what we want to do."
