RECAP
NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Bobby Kielty homered and
drove in three runs and Michael Cuddyer added three hits as the
New Britain Rock Cats beat the Reading Phillies, 5-2. Kielty
picked up an RBI when he reached on an error in the first inning
and smacked a two-run homer in the seventh. Cuddyer led off the
fourth inning with a single and scored on Rafael Alvarez's
ground out for New Britain, which won for just the third time in
its last nine games. Mike Ryan added an RBI triple in the first
inning for the Rock Cats. Kyle Lohse (2-3) allowed a run and
five hits, fanning seven, in six innings to record the win.
Brent Stentz tossed a perfect ninth for his third save of the
season. Skip Kiil led off the seventh inning with a homer and
Eric Valent added a sacrifice fly for Reading, which lost for
the fourth time in its last five road games. David Coggin (0-1)
surrendered three runs -- two earned -- and nine hits in five
innings for the loss.
