MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins changed farm teams Tuesday, signing the Rochester, N.Y., Red Wings as its Triple-A affiliate for the next two years.
For the past two years, the Edmonton Trappers was the Twins highest-level farm team.
The Twins also renewed their contract with the Single-A Quad City River Bandits. The Twins have been affiliated with Quad City since 1999.
The agreement with Rochester marks a return to the International League for the Twins. Minnesota was affiliated with the Toledo Mud Hens in 1986.
''This is a high-profile organization with a tremendous reputation throughout baseball,'' Twins general manager Terry Ryan said in a release.
''We look forward to building this relationship for many years to come,'' he said. |
