GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Chris Neil scored a pair of
first period goals to lead the Grand Rapids Griffins past the
Michigan K-Wings, 5-2, for their sixth consecutive victory.
Neil, who has just nine goals on the season, put Grand Rapids on
the board eight minutes into the game and scored nine minutes
later to break a 1-1 tie. Konstantin Gorovikov ignited a
three-goal spurt with one minute to play in the middle period
for Grand Rapids, which has won four games in a row at home.
Jani Hurme earned his 28th win of the season by making 20 saves
for the Griffins. Greg Bullock and Richard Jackman each tallied
for Michigan, which is winless in its last six contests against
Grand Rapids (0-3-3). Marty Turco turned away 36 shots for the
K-Wings.
