LONG BEACH, California (Ticker) -- Niklas Andersson scored a pair of goals and Andrei Trefilov turned away 23 of 24 shots as the Chicago Wolves defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs, 5-1, to take a commanding three games to none lead in their best-of-seven playoff series. Andersson registered a power-play goal in the first period and added a shorthanded tally late in the second. Trefilov recorded 11 saves in the final session to preserve the win for Chicago. Steve Maltais scored on the power play and Dan Plante had a pair of assists for the Wolves, who won Game Two, 4-1. Scott Thomas tallied with one second remaining in the middle period to provide the lone offense for Long Beach, which has managed just one goal in each of the first three games. Nikolai Khabibulin made 19 saves for the Ice Dogs, who will host Game Four on Wednesday.
