It is amazing Deion Sanders is back in the major leagues. Baseball is the world's hardest game to play, and Sanders has had a lot of time off, concentrating on everything but baseball. Sanders' ability to one day decide to start playing again, and within a few months be on his way back to the big leagues, is a testament to his extraordinary athleticism.

Given his numbers at Triple-A Louisville, Sanders will have a chance to help the Reds when he is promoted Tuesday. With Ken Griffey Jr. out, Sanders should help the Reds with his speed, which he obviously still has. He'll be able to wreak havoc on the bases and do good things offensively and defensively.
Sanders will be the same type of player we've seen in his past tours of duty -- although it's hard to believe he can still run like he ran five years ago. But even diminished speed for Deion is better than top speed for many other players.
Pitching in the majors is much better than pitching in the minors, and Sanders will clearly be tested at the plate. But if he gets on base, the Reds will be a better team with him.
It's good for Sanders and the Reds that they have several solid outfielders, so Reds manager Bob Boone can pick and choose where he'll want to use Sanders. Boone will be able to sit Deion against someone he doesn't match up well against, thereby helping Sanders at the plate and avoiding a potential quick slump.
