Texas also agreed to an $850,000, one-year contract with pitcher Mike Munoz, a deal that contains a team option for 2001.

In addition, the Rangers said they weren't offering arbitrations to right-handers John Burkett and Mike Morgan, left-hander Jeff Fassero and outfielders Roberto Kelly and Tom Goodwin.

Texas re-signed infielder Luis Alicea to a new one-year, $750,000 contract before the midnight ET deadline.

RANGERS ALTER UNIFORMS
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- The Texas Rangers showed off a series of uniform changes for the 2000 season Wednesday at The Ballpark at Arlington.

The new road uniform is a darker shade of gray with blue trim instead of red. The team also will have an alternate blue cap for home and road use.

The home uniforms with red trim and caps will remain the same, but the Rangers will wear black shoes instead of red both on the road and at home.

It is the first uniform change for the team since 1994, when the club played its first game at The Ballpark.

Alicea, who hit .201 with three homers and 17 RBI in 68 games last season, is expected to be ready for spring training after undergoing surgery at the end of the season to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.

Alicea immediately went into rehab following the surgery.

Players offered arbitration have until Dec. 19 to accept to reject the offers and may negotiate with their former teams through Jan. 8.

Players who aren't offered arbitration can't re-sign until May 1. In addition, the Rangers won't get any draft picks as compensation if they sign with other teams.

Munoz was 2-1 with a 3.93 ERA and one save in 56 games with the Rangers this season, his first with the club. He is 18-19 with a 5.10 ERA in 446 career appearances with Los Angeles, Detroit, Colorado and Texas.

His contract calls for $750,000 in 2000 and a $1 million club option for 2001 with a $100,000 buyout. He made $515,000 ths year.
