DETROIT -- Manager Tom Kelly will meet with team executives in the Twin Cities on Tuesday, and said he expects to learn then whether he'll have a future with the Minnesota Twins. Team president Jerry Bell called Saturday to arrange the meeting, Kelly said. The Twins finished their eighth-straight losing season Sunday in Detroit, solidly in the cellar of the American League Central. Kelly's future with the team, as well as that of his coaches and most of the front office, has been in doubt for more than a month. Team officials have said repeatedly that no decision would be made until the end of the season. Kelly would not speculate about the outcome of Tuesday's meeting. The status of general manager Terry Ryan also is uncertain. Ryan said he didn't expect to know anything until Monday, at the earliest. Kelly, 50, has spent 14 years as Twins' manager, leading Minnesota to World Series titles in 1987 and 1991. |
