CLEVELAND -- The Indians will have new uniforms this season to go along with a few new faces, and the team's controversial mascot Chief Wahoo will remain a part of the uniforms.

White-sleeveless jerseys with the Chief Wahoo logo over the left chest and navy caps with a red script letter "I" will be worn at home games on weekends and holidays.

The jerseys, shown Friday at a fashion show, will be worn over navy undershirts.

Regular home and away jerseys won't have dramatic changes, other than adding silver trim. It's the first new color on the uniforms, which are red, white and blue.

The Indians had not changed uniforms since moving into Jacobs Field in 1994.

The Chief Wahoo logo has become a popular sports symbol in Cleveland, but some church groups and American Indians find the grinning, red-faced, big-nosed caricature offensive.

The Committee of 500 years of Dignity and Resistance has opposed the logo and says it dehumanizes American Indians.
