Sentence leveled for steroid, traffic offenses

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Former major leaguer Ozzie Canseco was
sentenced to four months in jail Tuesday for possessing an illegal
anabolic steroid and driving with a suspended license.

The sentence will run at the same time as a one-year jail term
Canseco is serving in Miami for violating probation in a 2001
nightclub scuffle, Judge Isaac Anderson said.

Canseco, the twin brother of former All-Star Jose Canseco,
appeared in court Tuesday. He had pleaded guilty to possessing a
controlled substance without a prescription and driving with a
suspended license as a habitual traffic offender.

Ozzie Canseco played briefly with Oakland and St. Louis in the
early 1990s. He had a long minor league career and played in Japan.
