SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants re-signed free
agent outfielder Jeffrey Hammonds on Wednesday, agreeing to a $1
million, one-year contract.
The deal includes performance bonuses for games played and plate
appearances.
Hammonds, 32, began last season with Milwaukee, then signed a
minor league contract with the Giants on July 1.
He batted .277 with three home runs, 10 RBIs and 20 runs scored
in 36 games, including 23 starts for the NL West champions.
Hammonds would earn $25,000 each for 80, 90, 110, 120 and 130
games, and $50,000 each for 140 and 150 games. He also would get
$50,000 each for 250, 300 and 350 plate appearances, $75,000 each
for 400 and 450, and $100,000 each for 500 and 550.
