San Diego Padres-Texas Rangers: The Padres' acquisition of Brad Fullmer from the Rangers has been called off, as Fullmer will be on the DL longer than expected, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports.
Fullmer was put on the 15-day DL on Monday. He is sidelined with a sore right knee, the same one on which he had surgery last season.
Instead, the Padres acquired Dave Hansen from Seattle for minor league pitcher Jon Huber.
Milwaukee Brewers: A 48-year-old man from Madison, Wis., who fell off a Miller Park stadium escalator on Thursday died Friday afternoon.
The fan had been hospitalized Thursday after falling. He was the second fan in two months to fall off an escalator at Miller Park.
Toronto Blue Jays: Toronto right-hander Roy Halladay is making progress in his rehabilitation program for shoulder fatigue
and could rejoin the Blue Jays in early September.
Halladay, last season's AL Cy Young Award winner, was placed on
the 15-day disabled list July 20. He is 7-7 with a 4.35 ERA this
season.
"We feel like we're making progress," Halladay said Friday
before the Blue Jays played at Tampa Bay. "For the most part every
day I feel like things are getting better."
Halladay is scheduled to resume throwing a week from Monday. He
has been working out and undergoing treatment at Toronto's spring
training facility in Dunedin, Fla.
Blue Jays manager Carlos Tosca said Halladay could make three or
four starts before the season ends.
"That's the biggest goal of this whole thing," Halladay said.
"To take our time to get back and pitch before the end of the year
and know that going into the winter it's healthy. I don't want to
go through a winter not knowing. I think that's the biggest reason
why we're trying to get back so I can get into games. I want to
know that it's going to be 100 percent."

Seattle Mariners: The Mariners recalled right-handed pitcher Gil Meche from Triple-A Tacoma so he could
start Friday night against the Anaheim Angels.
Meche was 1-3 with a 5.05 earned-run average and 45 strikeouts
in 10 starts at Tacoma. Earlier this season with the Mariners, he
was 1-5 with a 7.06 ERA in 10 starts.
The Mariners also brought up right-handed pitcher Scott Achison
from Tacoma, where he was 5-3 with a 4.21 ERA and seven saves in 40
appearances. They placed starting pitcher Julio Mateo on the 15-day
disabled list, retroactive to Thursday, with tendinitis in his
right elbow.
Infielder Ramon Santiago was sent back to Tacoma after being
called up for Thursday night's game at Anaheim.
