Right-hander gets 1 year, $1M contract

New York Yankees: Tanyon Sturtze and the Yankees agreed Monday to a one-year contract that guarantees the right-hander $1 million.

Sturtze, the only New York player eligible for salary arbitration, gets $850,000 this season. The Yankees have a $1.5 million option for 2006 with a $150,000 buyout.

He was 6-2 with a 5.47 ERA in three starts and 25 relief appearances for the Yankees last year and appeared in six postseason games. Sturtze, 34 was acquired from Los Angeles on May 15 for infielder Brian Myrow.
