Surgery repaired torn labrum

NEW YORK -- St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen had arthroscopic surgery Friday to repair a small tear in the labrum of his left shoulder.

Dr. George Paletta, the Cardinals' team physician, diagnosed the injury and performed the surgery at Barnes West Hospital in St. Louis.

Rolen was injured Tuesday night in a collision with first baseman Hee Seop Choi of the Los Angeles Dodgers on a ground out to the pitcher.

Rolen was placed on the disabled list Thursday and is expected to miss four to six weeks.
