Struggling Lopez heads to DL

BOSTON -- Javy Lopez will have to wait at least another
week to snap out of an early season funk.

Prior to their game against the Boston Red Sox on Friday, the
Baltimore Orioles placed Lopez on the 15-day disabled list,
retroactive to April 28, with a mid-back strain.

The designated hitter-catcher has batted just .221 (15-for-68)
with one home run and eight RBI in 19 games with the Orioles
this season. He last played on April 27 at Toronto.

In a related move, the Orioles activated outfielder Luis Matos
from the DL. Matos has been out since April 17 with right
shoulder inflammation and is batting a meager .138 (4-for-29)
with two homers and two RBI in nine games.
