Rincon out for season with shoulder surgery

ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Ricardo Rincon
will miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff was
Thursday. Rincon also had reconstructive surgery on his left elbow.
Rincon, 36, was 0-0 with a 10.80 ERA in five appearances. He
last pitched on April 18 and has been on the 15-day disabled list
since April 28. He signed a two-year, $2.9 million free agent
contract in December.
The team said Friday the usual rehab for this type of procedure
is seven to nine months.
Earlier this week, manager Tony La Russa said Rincon's
participation for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic
"absolutely" factored into his injuries.
