Padres release well-traveled Bellhorn, Williamson

SAN DIEGO -- Mark Bellhorn and Scott Williamson once
again are on the move.

The San Diego Padres released the well-traveled Bellhorn and
Williamson on Thursday.

A 32-year-old infielder, Bellhorn batted .190 with eight home
runs and 27 RBI in 115 games this season for the Padres, his
sixth team.

A playoff hero with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, Bellhorn had
signed with San Diego as a free agent last December after
splitting the 2005 campaign with the Red Sox and New York

Williamson, 30, went 2-4 with a 5.72 earned-run average in 42 combined relief
appearances for the Chicago Cubs and Padres this season, going
0-1 with a 7.36 ERA in 11 games with San Diego after being
acquired on July 22.

Williamson is 27-28 with 55 saves and a 3.32 ERA in 328 games --
10 starts -- with four teams.

The Padres also waived infielder Manny Alexander and claimed
pitcher Justin Hampson off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.
